YOU'D BETTER GET READY TO CRY
Jul. 29th, 2020 08:37 pm
Hello, Executors! Now that all apps have been processed, we're well on our way to being ready for the game's opening! On track with our originally announced date, the intro log will be going up on August 1st and you'll be able to dive right into the world of Purgatory. Here's some things to keep in mind in anticipation of the game's opening:
- ⚝ Can Cry is not a murdergame, nor does it take many cues from murdergames aside from its structure and more involved metaplot. There will be no weekly logs or daily toplevels and the like – players will be expected to engage with Can Cry as they would Ye Olde Regular Jamjar game. In addition, while I will do my best to ensure opportunities to engage with the plot and characters of Can Cry are evenly distributed, you will get out of the game what you put into it. Players will be rewarded for activity, enthusiasm and just generally being engaged, so don't be afraid to dive in and start nosing into anything that looks interesting!
⚝ With the Combat Test wrapping up, a few of the infopages will be getting a sexy new makeover to reflect the overhaul of the battle mechanics that happened behind the scenes. I'll give folks a heads up as usual when things change, but be sure to give things a quick once-over again before the game opens. Regarding the Combat Mechanics in particular though, I am Terminally Bad at explaining things that revolve around numbers so please do give me feedback on that section if it's unclear or confusing!
⚝ And the most important part of this post: How the game's intro will go! Just as a warning to players in advance, I anticipate that the game's intro post will be a bit more fast paced and plot-heavy than would be typical of an intro. Since characters will be getting a crash course in the game's premise and getting the chance to uncover information about their situation, things might speed along pretty quick. I will be available pretty much all of August 1st and 2nd to help the game's opening run smoothly, so if anyone is concerned about their potential availability on opening day or is worried about missing out on that first event, please let me know and I'll do my very best to accommodate you.
And... that's about it!
Well, that's a bit of a fib: Rather than a notice, I just want to give a huge, HUGE thank you once again to everyone still excited about participating in Can Cry! This has been a project almost eight whole months in the making for me and it feels pretty surreal that we're so close to the game's opening now! But despite the setbacks caused by You Know ;), I'm truly touched by everyone's patience and continued enthusiasm and I really and truly can't wait for everyone to enjoy the game I've put together here. I just hope it can live up to expectations!

See you in Purgatory, Executors!
